How to Reduce your Stress like the Pros Do.

Stress is a huge problem especially for people in western societies. There are three types of stressors:

- Physical
- Psychological
- Environmental or Social.

The first group of stressors affect physically, for example : hunger ,hot and cold, illness, pain and injury, viruses, lack of sleep.

The Psychological affects your mind. Examples are : loneliness, fear, death of a relative or friend, threats to security, rejection, depression.

The Social occurs on your environment and they are such as: unpleasant work, extreme weather, economic depression, family environment and friends.

The Job stress is the most important that dominates our lives. It’s high unlikely to find someone without stress.
Some of the symptoms of stress are :
Tension, anxiety and confusion .
Withdrawal and depression .
Feelings of isolation and alienation .
Boredom and job dissatisfaction .
Low self-esteem .

So how you can reduce your stress?

One factor which is diminished is the nutrition. Most of us eat junk food, like fast food , snacks , refreshments which contain a lot of sugar e.t.c. That kind of food will cause illness sooner or later and there is no way you can reduce your stress.

Another factor is smoking especially when is compined with caffeine. These two triggers the stress response.
Medical research has proved that during the stress situations particular vitamins are needed to maintain proper functioning nervous and endocrine systems.

Deficiencies of vitamins B-1, B-5 and B-6, can lead to anxiety reactions, depression, insomnia, and cardiovascular weaknesses, while vitamins B-2 and niacin deficiencies have been known to cause stomach irritability and muscular weakness. Their depletion lowers your tolerance to, and ability to cope with stressors.

One widely popular theory is that the body's need for vitamin C increases when under stress. The reasons are two:

Vitamin C is stored in the adrenal gland. After the gland releases adrenal hormones as part of the stress response, the supply needs to be replenished. The production of adrenal hormones is accelerated by vitamin C.

Vitamin C is also needed for the synthesis of the thyroid hormone. Thyroid hormone production regulates the body's metabolism. Thus, when the metabolic rate increases under stress, so does the need for vitamin C. Where do you find these vitamins, particularly B and C?The B vitamins are amply supplied in protein rich foods.Vitamin C is found in : citrus fruits, broccoli ,strawberries, tomatoes, green peppers
You may want to give special attention to foods that provide those vitamins affected by stress, but not to the extent that you neglect other important nutrients.

Relaxation is the best tool you could use in order to reduce stress. You can achive relaxation by following the techniques below:
- meditation
- yoga
- hypnosis
- deep breathing
- Progressive relaxation

Relaxation essentially means paying attention to something calming. For example, you can concentrate on your breath and your body. Your aim is to calm your mind and lower your metabolism.

Stress management is a lifelong process. With a successful stress management program, you'll note positive changes:
-In your own health and well-being .
-In your relations with family, friends and coworkers .
-In your performance your energy your concentration your ability to cope your efficiency .

Negotiation Tips for Newbies!

Experienced negotiators are a hard thing to find these days. Although it’s not easy to become a professional negotiator since it requires knowledge and experience, anyone can be a better negotiator in every field of our lives. Some rules must be adapted in order to succeed that.

Do not try to be pleasant. It’s true that most people want to be pleasant and popular but this is not appropriate in negotiation process. During the negotiations you will have to say “No” many times and displease your “opponent”. If you can’t accept that then let someone else do that job.

Stay focused. Chit chat is the last thing you need. Remain on your primary goals you have set and do not let the conversation go beyond that. Don’t be the one who talks more. The more you talk the more your opponent will know.

You have to be prepared before the procedure. Learn everything for the other side, their financial status, older negotiation results, other deals they have done, the arguments you expect they could possibly develop.

Where the negotiations take place? This is critical. There is a debate on that. Some people believe that negotiating in your base will make you feel better and more comfortable during the process. Some other think that negotiating in your “opponent’s” base can provide you valuable information for who he could be and what can you except. The third view specifies the need of a neutral place. All could be right or wrong.

Go for the higher offer. If you plan to sell your house 100.000$ you will not start the offer from 100.000$.You have to start from more. In that way you will have more space for shifts. You have to set these goals before the beginning of the negotiations.

Focus on your strong arguments and on the other side’s week arguments. Doing this, you will have the upper hand and you will gain more in the outcome of the negotiation. Do not let happen the opposite! If not you will loose more than you expected in the first place.

Avoid the early concessions. Try to be the last who give up. You should expect your opponent negotiator to make the first move.

Don’t accept the first offer. The first offer is not the last, almost never. You will get a better one if you insist.

Try the “salami” tactic. Don’t ask for the whole thing but a tiny piece. Since there is not going to be an objection from the other side then you can ask for another tiny piece. This tactic is popular in diplomacy between countries but it can be adapted to individuals too.

Don’t be impatient. If the deal is very important, be prepared for long and tiring negotiation process. If you are in hurry to close it you will have to give more in order to do that.

Do not accept no always as an answer. It’s been proved that no can be transformed to yes with the appropriate arguments.
It’s not a personal matter. The other negotiator is a human too. There is no need to take it personal and get angry if it’s not going as you wanted to be. You can be a tough negotiator without being hostile.

Avoid the big lies. You won’t be believable. You can twist around but lying will lead to dead end.

Motivation – How to Build Trust at Work.

You may be a skillful, effective employer but if you don’t trust your personnel and the opposite, then the chances of improving and expanding the business you deal with, are extremely limited.

It’s not critical for the employees to like the boss, but they have to trust him or her. If not, he won’t be able to lead them and the workers will have little motivation at work.

Truth and trust are connected together. You could be honest for years but one lie can destroy the trust you have built all this time and there is no doubt that regaining that trust is very difficult.

You have to be honest. Do not say “I don’t know” when you know. Be straight and say exactly what you have in mind. When you say “No” mean it. We have to realize that the work place is not a popularity contest . Tasks need to be completed and work’s goals should be accomplished with success.

Therefore, trying to be pleasant all the time will build obstacles to your job and disorientate you from your real goals at work.

Open your ears and accept criticism from employees or colleagues. It’s hard for every person to accept comments – especially negative – but in order to lead you will have to. Always listen to other ideas, suggestions and encourage open discussions. That doesn’t mean, in case you are the manager that you don’t decide according to your facts.

Demonstrate the trust. Just saying “I trust you” is not enough. You have to show it by assigning responsibilities and providing all the tools they need in order to succeed in the tasks you assign to them. When we say tools we mean training, information e.t.c

Recognize the well done job. People need to be appreciated especially at work. When an employee is productive, and finishes the assignment successfully show your appreciation directly. People need the approval to be in public and the negative comments in private. It’s in human nature, we can’t change it, and so it is important to follow that rule.

Recent research analyzes that workers do not care only about the money. They want to be educated at work, to take initiatives and also play a part in resolving problems that occur.

To sum it up, you have to do what you preach, and be clear with your actions. When you say “No” or “Yes” mean them, and of course you have to give the example. If you enforce a rule at your company but you are the only one who breaks it, don’t expect the rule to last for long. Especially the trust will vanish, and leading your team will become extremely difficult task.
